Well, 'tis the season to take a look back and see how I did on my resolutions from last year. I didn't do a very good job of checking in on them, but I think I did pretty well, all told. Without further ado, here's the list:
1. Be less flaky. I actually did this, believe it or not. I think for the first time in my life, I've finally learned to say "no" when I really can't do things. I've stopped saying "yes" on Evites when I really mean "no" or "maybe." It's a good feeling to know that my friends can count on me. And I really will call them back or at least apologize when I space it.
2. Get a workout schedule on track and stick to it for an extended period of time.
Indie Rocker and I went and got a workout program from our friend Benny, which was nice because I actually have biceps now. And my arms don't wiggle. I need to work on sticking to it on vacations, but it includes skiing and hashing, which makes it so much easier to handle.
3. Get a new job. Seriously? Woo! This was such a great feeling. Obviously there are parts of my new job that drive me crazy (still accruing vacation--argh.), but overall, it was past time and I'm so glad that it finally happened.
4. Stop biting my nails. And stop picking at my face. Still working on it. Nobody's perfect!
5. Open an IRA or Roth account. I actually have a 401k now through work and it's growing nicely. I'm going to consider this done.
6. Start taking better care of myself. Well, it hasn't all happened the way I intended it, but I have attempted to eat better, sleep more, drink less, and generally live better. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Either way, it's a good attempt, really.
Well, pretty much 5 for 6 this year, which certainly isn't bad. I'm particularly patting myself on the back for getting the new job because there's really no way that I could have survived a new year in the old one. I might have totally lost it and that's no good. So I've saved my sanity and embarked on a new adventure. We'll see how it goes!!

My surfboard!!!!
101 update!
4. Buy a surfboard. Completed 12/25/06. Indie Rocker paid for part of it as a birthday gift, but I paid off the rest and I cannot wait to use it.
I am so very excited--it turned out exactly how I imagined and my friend Bryan, of Seven Surfboards, is the man. I am so stoked, and I cannot wait to ride it!!

Darkest Day of the Year
It is, but thankfully it was a really nice day, so I actually got to see some sun. One of my coworkers and I wandered down to the mall to attempt to shop at lunch, so I got to go outside too. We were totally unsuccessful in our attempt, but it was OK. We tried.
Other than that, things have been good. Indie Rocker and I did Christmas last night. I gave him a stovetop espresso maker, coffee, a Ferrari tshirt from Puma, and tickets to next month's My Morning Jacket concert. I got a freshly tuned and ground pair of tele skis (slightly used, but that's OK. He only used them for one season), a pair of red climbing skins, and a really great Nike jacket that I didn't want to buy for myself at the Employee Store. So good for him. He said that his original idea for me fell through, much like mine did for him. That's OK, though. I think we're both pretty happy.
He left this morning for California, and I'll miss him, but it's nice to be alone for a few days. It's a nice change.

Ack!
God, has it really been this long since I've posted? You'd think with 4 days off over the Thanksgiving weekend and no skiing that I would actually be up to date. Alas, that is apparently not the case.
Things have been busy around here. Work was quite busy as one of the gals in my department was gone for two weeks and I picked up the slack in the meantime. I liked it, actually, since I had a lot more freedom to do my work and not feel like I had to run everything by her. Now that she's back, it's back to the micromanagement, which seriously gets old after a while. I know that she's not used to being a manager, but a teensy bit of training might not be a bad thing. I'm just saying. A few of us were talking at the Holiday Party last night and I'm certainly not the only person who's noticed these tendencies.
Either way, the job is still great and I certainly don't miss the Hill. Seriously, at all.
I've been having some crazy dreams lately, but that's about all the weirdness in my life. Strong Draught and I are throwing our annual Chrismukkah bash on Saturday, which promises to be both drunken and silly. I'm looking forward to it, anyway.
Forgive my lack of posting--I'll try to work on that!!!
