Ski movie weekend

Well, we pretty much drank beer and went to see ski movies this weekend. Friday night was Warren Miller and Saturday was TGR. Unfortunately, this pretty much precluded any and all Halloween partying, but for whatever reason I wasn't really feeling it this year anyway, so no big loss.

And at TGR, I got to meet Eric Pollard!

They were actually really relaxing evenings, aside from massive beer consumption. I'm sure that I drove my mother nuts on Friday, but she seemed to hide her irritation well, if she was in fact annoyed. Go me! On the other hand, Indie Rocker actually won something at Warren, which was unusual. It was a backpack that he ended up giving to me, but cool nonetheless.

TGR was standing room only, which left a little to be desired, but I did manage to be fine standing for an hour. And did I mention Eric Pollard? I'm such a geek.

Quick Friday roundup!

I might be scarred for life.

Also, support your alma mater. Or just mine.

FYI--Speedy's heading out on what I really hope is her last fire. It's the scary one in SoCal that was set by an arsonist, so help me out and worry about her a little if you remember so that I'm not the only one.

No quote today--too busy!

Cool coworkers

I just had the nicest conversations with one of my new coworkers. I don't know her very well, as she's in a different department, but she's really nice and quite funny. She and I were comparing notes on little sisters, as she had one as well who drove her crazy growing up and now they're great friends.

It reminded me how much fun she and I had in Costa Rica last year and how much I'm looking forward to going to visit her in Tahoe this winter/spring. If nothing else, it will be nice to have her home for the holidays again.

When did I get all nostalgic? Good grief!

Indie Rocker and I had a nice weekend getaway, complete with a plush hotel stay, dinner with friends in Hood River, and a rather spectacular mountain biking crash on my part. I'm OK, just bruised as usual. On the bright side, I do still want to ride. Yay!

My main source of frustration right now is stupid Bananarepublic.com who refuses to send me the clothes I ordered. Argh.

Bragging rights!

Once again, I am reminded of just how cool it is to work downtown and have friends who like to invite me places.

I got to go see Ladytron perform live, for free, at lunch. Their show tonight is sold out, but they did a little pre-show at the big ad agency in town. I was supposed to go play volleyball with a few friends, and then one of them got the invite and we decided to go.

So. Much. Fun.

101 updates!

I finally had some time to look through the 101 list and realized that some of the items are just going to have to get checked off.

11. Play an entire season of lacrosse for Portland Winded, including practices. Completed 5/1/06. I'm considering this one done, since I did go to a bunch of practices and even traveled with the team. Ergo, I did it. Certainly moreso than I ever did in the past, which was the whole point. Since I don't know if I'm going to play again in the spring, it makes sense to check this off.

29. Figure out if there is a grad program that I want to enroll in. Completed 9/15/06. Mom found out that there's a Willamette U. MBA program here in Portland. It's spendy, but I think it's a good idea. Dad actually talked me into doing a "night" program, since it'll end up better long-term.

87. Learn how to apply makeup Completed 9/9/06. I inexplicably developed the ability to do my makeup while in Cali for my cousin's wedding. Perhaps I just needed to get over my fear of it and just do it. Either way, I was even giving Mom tips on her eye makeup and getting compliments. Sweet.

There's a few that I'm not sure are ever going to happen, but we'll see. I already know one won't get done in total, but that's not bad, really. I'm still pretty proud of myself.

Oh, and with any luck, I'll get a few more done in the next few weeks. Cross your fingers!
